At the Edge of the Light:
Thoughts on Photography & Photographers,
on Talent & Genius
by David Travis
David R. Godine, Publisher
One of the many books I studied in college was Gisèle Freund’s Photography and Society, a compact volume of essays on photography that I only later connected with Godine. That book served as a model for this one: its modest size suggesting a somewhat squarish trim for this collection of erudite essays by the curator of photography at the Art Institute of Chicago.
